As well as being based in central London, H&F offers career opportunities that are difficult to find elsewhere. It’s a busy borough with one of the highest-performing planning departments. We’re currently dealing with some of the country’s biggest developers and regeneration sites, but we’re small enough to have a genuinely personal relationship with many of the residents we serve.

About the Service

One of London’s leading councils, Hammersmith and Fulham is a thriving borough, with significant regeneration happening throughout. We have a strong reputation for taking on big projects, consistently finding solutions to the challenges we face. We’re excited for our future – particularly our new industrial strategy, which reflects our ambition to make our borough the best place to do business in Europe.

We have an impressive asset portfolio, including some world-famous locations including:

  • Innovation district at White City including Westfield Uk largest shopping centre and Imperial College campus
  • Chelsea, Fulham and QPR Football Clubs
  • South Fulham Riverside
  • Hammersmith & Fulham Town Centres
  • Redevelopment of Olympia exhibition centre
  • The development of the largest transport interchange in Europe at Old Oak Common with a new HS2 station coming
  • a rich heritage of  44 conservation areas, 500 listed buildings and over 2,000 locally listed buildings.

We need to maintain our iconic landmarks whilst also looking forward to the future regeneration within the borough.

Moving forward, there will be a huge focus on housing. The Council plans to deliver at least 22,000 new homes by 2035 – 50% of them to be affordable. This will also include social rented accommodation.


The regeneration of White City, Hammersmith, Fulham, and South Fulham Riverside will bring 30,000 new jobs. The development of the Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation around a new HS2/Crossrail and Great Western Line, will further connect the borough and create new opportunities for the future.

We work with some of the country’s biggest developers and institutions and you will be part of this no matter what level you work at as our department is committed to an inclusive approach spreading work opportunities and involving everyone.

Our planning service works alongside regeneration, economic development and housing services to we can provide the highest level of service for our residents. The shared service will enable more joined up working between the separate teams and ensure that we are all working towards the same goals.

A recent recruitment exercise resulted in many of our rising stars being promoted to more senior positions.  These vacant posts, along with some senior manager roles are the basis for this new recruitment campaign.  Those joining us will have the opportunity to work on projects that are genuinely bigger and more exciting than any other borough in London. Not only that but you will be part of a service that is transforming the face of Hammersmith and Fulham in a way that will benefit its residents for generations to come.
