As well as being based in central London, H&F offers career opportunities that are difficult to find elsewhere. It’s a busy borough with one of the highest-performing planning departments. We’re currently dealing with some of the country’s biggest developers and regeneration sites, but we’re small enough to have a genuinely personal relationship with many of the residents we serve.

About the Service

We have recently combined our Regeneration, Planning and Housing services to ensure that we can provide the highest level of service for our residents. The shared service will enable more joined up working between the separate teams and ensure that we are all working towards the same goals.

We are thriving as a borough, with significant regeneration happening throughout. We have a strong reputation for taking on big projects, consistently finding solutions to the challenges we face.

We have an impressive asset portfolio, including some world-famous locations including:

  • Earls Court
  • Westfield Shopping Centre
  • BBC Television Centre
  • Chelsea, Fulham and QPR Football Clubs
  • South Fulham Riverside


We need to maintain these iconic landmarks whilst also looking forward to the future regeneration within the borough.

Moving forward, there will be a huge focus on housing. The council has made a significant commitment to increase genuinely affordable housing, includes social rented accommodation.

Those joining us will have the opportunity to work on projects that are genuinely bigger and more exciting than any other borough in London. Not only that but you will be part of a service that is transforming the face of Hammersmith and Fulham in a way that will benefit its residents for generations to come.

About Us

Talk to anyone within the council and they’ll tell you the same thing – our people love it here. There is an overwhelming feeling of pride, because big things happen here and the team know about our even bigger ambitions for the future.

There is a positive and innovative culture that has been cultivated throughout the council. This is a culture in which our managers take a hands-on, involved approach with their teams. Our ethos is to work as a team, achieve as a team and take responsibility as a team; there is no blame culture here.

We also place a great deal of value on a constructive, collaborative approach to our employees’ development. This is done through internal training and regular one-to-one meetings and appraisals. We are keen to effectively develop from within and promote internally wherever possible.

Our hands-on approach to management goes as far as our Chief Executive, who knows most of the staff in the town hall.

The town hall itself is based within 10 minutes’ walk from Hammersmith tube station, a stone’s throw away from the many shops, cafes and bars in the area.
